π

Paige had to make this for chemistry class last night. It is a fake apple pie made with Ritz crackers. How do you like the embellishing she did on the crust, it is for chemistry after all...

Happy Easter to me!

My friend Leisa made me this cute bunny for Easter. He is the cutest thing. She got me hooked on making these only wish Easter did not sneak up on me this year. I thought I had a few more weeks left to make some more of these. Oh well next year.

I also got a bag of homegrown shallots from her garden. They are so much better than the ones I have been getting from the store. I am very envious of her garden that she has every year. If I was a thief I would steel all of her canned tomatoes and the wonderful things in her freezer from her garden.

The Easter beagle

Paige and I started a tradition last Easter of egging someone's front yard. This year we expanded our adventure to two yards. Here Paige is with basket #1 ready to go. The night before we filled around 500 eggs.

This is Mallory's yard, a neighbor was watching us as Paige started to go into the yard, we did not know until later that the yard across the street got toilet papered the night before.

Paige put down around 250 pastel colored eggs for Mallory's yard.

Ring the bell and run Paige, Run!

The Easter beagle strikes again...

This is the Easter Beagle in Preston's yard. Preston got bright colored eggs they show up better in the grass.

Ring and run Paige!

Look at the smile on her face, I think she is having a great time.

Sneak Peak...Shhh!

Paige is asleep and I am finishing up her Easter basket. I am so glad that she is still not too big for a basket and looks forward to finding it on Easter morning.

I knit the bunny, then felted and embellished it with some hand made beads, a bow, and some lashes. My friend Leisa was so helpful talking me through this bunny pattern. I think I called her 9 times that night. If you get a chance take a look at her Wonderful Bunnies, she is a master making these cute little things.

We will also be egging someone's house in the morning so come back later for the photos!

Shop Cat

Paige and I had a girls' day out in Winter Park. We visited a lot of fun shops and looked at a lot of over-priced clothing, shoes, and kitchen items. In one of my favorite shops we stopped for a minute to pet the shop kitty.

If you had to live in a place of business, I would want to live her,e at Apenberry's and if your ever in Winter Park looking for beautiful things for your garden, house or a gift that someone will really love and keep forever go to Apenberry's located at 151 E. Welborne Avenue. It is worth the trip. I always find something wonderful here so I have to watch myself when I go. I only got a few new plants to refresh some of my pots inside that look a little shabby, okay truthfully some look a little dead.

Moo...

No, not a salute to my home state of Wisconsin. Moo cards are like small business cards. Instead of business cards I ordered these, they are so much more than business cards. Full color on the front and up to 6 lines of type on the back. Though I would show them off. So Cute!

Pleasant Surprise

Today was the day to be outside enjoying the sun and warm weather. It is 85°F. The best place to be today would be the beach but since Paige is still sick and Mr. Hygeine is still gone I went to the 49th Annual Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival camera in hand.

Well there were too many people there to take photos that would be worth looking at but I did snap a photo of the pleasant surprise that was waiting there for me. I had bought a vase from John Herbon around seven years ago. It had been one of my favorite things ever since I got it. These three little vases will be a nice addition to our house, I was happy to see that his style has not changed one bit. Still the great color of green that I love and not too shiny. All in all a good day. Wish Paige could have been there with me, it is always so much fun to have her around at these things.

Warm cake...

It was a little overcast today with a light drizzle outside, Mr. Hygiene is out of town, Paige is sick, and it has been a rough week. Nothing makes things better than a house that smells lovely and something made with love is on the table. Days like today need Cake. Cream Cheese Pound Cake is just what the day requires. Oh and warm cup of coffee as well.

It is coming...March 14, 15 & 16, 2008

The 49th Annual Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival I am so excited! It seems every year I find something I love. Last year it was this vase by Brian J. Taylor I did not see him on the list of artists for this year. That might be a good thing. I really don't need another vase.

Too bad my ex-friend Heidi isn't going to be here to go with me. She loves art shows and would enjoy the weather. Paige could even watch her small children while we went. She lives in Michigan and it is a bit cool there right now. It would be a good place to meet her sister who also lives in Florida. Oh well since she does not like to fly...too bad someone she knows isn't coming down.

Tulip the good kitty

I love it when Tulip curls up into her little furry ball.

She gave me the look when I awoke her from her blissful dream.

Every time I take a photo that has this couch in the back ground I am reminded of the yards and yards of fabric that is sitting in the hall closet. I have such good intentions.

I remember when I was in grade school we had "Aunt Sue and Uncle Dan Your Story Hour" tapes we could listen to when we had a break or time to burn. I think one of the stories was titled "Good intentions are not enough." Funny I don't think I could tell you too many more titles from the selection of cassettes. Hmmm? I think I knew way back then that story was for me.

Sheri Berry's "Kitsch n Mixer"

Oh the delight of doing a search on Amazon.com and finding something my friend Sheri Seibold has in production. I am so excited to see this on the web and for sale. Amazon.com has a few of her items listed on their web site. We knew they were coming out sometime soon but I had no idea that I could see them and buy them now.

Here is a close up of the clever design. Looks like flowers from a distance but Sheri used repeating kitchen utensils to create an interesting flower pattern. I love the color combinations however they do not show their true colors on the computer screen.

Sushi Vinegar

This was my lunch yesterday. Veggie wrap with humus, cucumbers, romaine, cheese and soy protein...mmmm!

One of my new favorite things is sushi vinegar. While Leisa was here she made me a spinach salad using seasoned rice vinegar (sushi vinegar) and since then I have been hooked. I have tried it on so many things and the potential is great. It has a sweet sour flavor and is very mellow. I do suggest that you find one made with sugar and not high fructose corn syrup. They seem to have a slightly different flavor that most people will not seem to notice but since my 15 year old notices I thought it might be worth mentioning. The vinegar we love is on the left the other is on the right.

Why did I not know about seasoned rice vinegar?

Why get up at 4 am?

This sunrise? No.

For their event? No.

For this smile, yes. This is why we got up at 4am.

The boys & Paige did great, they got silver. For more photos of the race go to our Mac Gallery and click the Stanton Invitational album.
